For this series of photo-landworks, I made small hand written "signs" on location while on the Snake River trip. In these little signs I reported on things that had happened — things I noticed, things I heard, incidents that ‘occurred’ — specific to the circumstances of travelling on a river with particular people, a group that included trip guides, residents of the Yukon Territory, First Nations Gwich’in women, and people, like me, who were visitors.

I placed these little signs temporarily beside the river, in the spot where the incident happened, and photographed them on site. The word ‘occurrences’ in the title also refers to things occurring to me — moments of special notice, in the spirit of haiku.
